This modal often doesn’t go away after releasing the microphone button. We’ve had this issue for ages and it’s frustrating as it’s antithetical to its purpose of quick & easy. You have no choice but wait for it to go to the max (likely to erase) or kill the app to interact with it again. In both cases, if user doesn’t abandon, they have to redo (painful, and potential for bug to reoccur => degrading trust in using it)

You have no choice but wait for it to go to the max (likely to erase) or kill the app to interact with it again.  In both cases, if user doesn’t abandon, they have to redo (painful, and potential for bug to reoccur => degrading trust in using it)
